27 Jul Strategic Roadmap Delivered: Finalising the AI4SI Project under the Etorkizuna Eraikiz Programme by the Province Council of Gipuzkoa in March 2025

Prof. Igor Calzada has successfully concluded the AI4SI (Artificial Intelligence for Social Innovation) project, a competitive research initiative funded by the Etorkizuna Eraikiz programme of the Strategy Department of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa (DFG).

Over the course of the project, Prof. Calzada led a multidisciplinary action-research process to assess and anticipate the social impacts of Artificial Intelligence across the Historic Territory of Gipuzkoa. The work involved collaboration with local stakeholders, institutions, and civil society organisations, culminating in the delivery of a strategic roadmap for deploying AI in socially innovative and territorially inclusive ways.

The final roadmap outlines key recommendations and policy directions to guide the responsible and democratic implementation of AI technologies in the province—balancing innovation with digital rights, social cohesion, and sustainability. The project also contributes to broader debates on digital governance and territorial innovation in the age of Generative AI.
