Prof Calzada Lecturing Urban Economics at the Faculty of Economics at the University of the Basque Country in March 2025, in Sarriko Faculty in Bilbao

In coordination with Professors Marisol Esteban and Beatriz Plaza, he has been involved in undergraduate teaching on Urban Economics, a subject within the field of Applied Economics in the Department of Public Policy and Economic History. The course not only introduces students to the foundational principles of urban economic analysis but also integrates cutting-edge topics such as Smart Cities and Urban Artificial Intelligence (Urban AI). A distinctive feature of the teaching approach is the application of these concepts to the municipalities where students live, thereby fostering a place-based, experiential learning environment that connects theoretical frameworks with real-life urban contexts. This pedagogical strategy is directly aligned with his ongoing research on digital urban transformations and his editorial leadership in the Special Issue on ‘Digital Inclusion & Urban AI’ in the Nature Springer journal Discover Cities: https://link.springer.com/collections/bhgeijbhib
