Prof Calzada Launching In Collaboration with European Colleagues the Edward Elgar Book: Multidisciplinary Movements in AI and Generative AI: Shaping Technology for Society, Business, and Education (2025)

Igor Calzada, with European colleagues, has recently co-edited the volume Multidisciplinary Movements in AI and Generative AI: Shaping Technology for Society, Business, and Education, published by Edward Elgar. The book, also discussed in ElgarBlog, brings together contributions that bridge artificial intelligence, economics, governance, and education to interrogate how technology can and should serve public value.

The volume argues that AI and Generative AI require a genuinely multidisciplinary dialogue—linking computer science, economics, sociology, policy, and ethics—to address the systemic transformation they are generating across societies. Calzada’s contribution situates these developments within innovation systems and institutional governance frameworks, showing how technologies carry political and social consequences that cannot be reduced to technical design alone.
